 Communion Breakfast
Sunday, February 26 at 7:45 a.m. at
Elm Park United Methodist Church
tickets are $8.00 and may be purchased from John Frank.
Complete details of program can be found on the bulletin board.

A note of thanks was received from The  Clarks Summit State Hospital.
The patients and staff were very pleased with the Christmas gift boxes which were so nicely filled.  The items were very practical, and the patients made use of the little gifts as soon as they could.  Once again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart and may God bless your works.  Best wishes for a joyful and Happy New Year!

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance Update:

Help support volunteers...Donate FOOD and SUPPLIES...Donate MONEY...   Donate FURNITURE and HOUSEHOLD ITEMS...

The Volunteer center at the Wyoming Institute opened on November 6. Three work teams (from Gwynedd Square in Lansdale, Southminster in Pittsburgh, and students from Waynesburg University) have stayed at the center in order to do flood recovery work in Sugar Run, Falls, West Pittston, Wilkes Barre, and Shickshinny. Donations of food and cleaning supplies from area churches were used by the teams so that most of the   fees the volunteers paid to stay in the center could be used for families needing assistance.
The center has closed for the winter but will reopen in March. Several groups have already registered for the spring and summer. Churches will be contacted then to provide evening meals for the volunteers.
A center in the Towanda area is scheduled to open in December.

Members of Lackawanna Presbytery congregations have been generous in giving their time and donations to the churches and communities affected by the flooding that resulted from Tropical Storm Lee in September.  Your generorsity has enabled the presbytery to partner with presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) and local agencies and denominations to provide physical and financial support along with care and concern for those in need.  Visiting volunteers have combed river banks, scoured churches, and helped homeoowners begin the rebuilding process.
Keep up on the relief effort on the Recovery Page at:   www.lackawannapresby.org

The Board of Deacons continues to receive and take items to the Safety Net in Scranton and thanks everyone for their contributions  Thank you to all those who continue to contribute items each month.  Please leave your items in the baskets in the vestibule or in the church office.

Thank You! for the ink cartridges that  have been left to recycle.    Recycling the cartridges not only helps our enviornment, but gives us extra dollars for office costs.

Due to a recent change in our florist and in order to keep the pulpit flowers affordable, Bonnie Forbes,
who has experience in floral arranging has offered to help with this job.
If you would like to have an arrangement for a specific Sunday, please give the date and order to Sue.  You have the option of supplying your own flowers (and getting them to the church) or having them purchased and arranged by Bonnie.
